Claude Team and API plans guarantee your data is NOT used for model training. Claude Pro has opt-out controls. For GDPR compliance: use Claude Team ($25/user/month) or API with DPA. Anthropic stores data in US (Standard Contractual Clauses for EU compliance). Never upload data that you would not share with a trusted professional — even with guarantees, prudence is wise.

Claude Free and Pro
By default, conversations may be used to improve Claude (with privacy protections). Users can opt out. For business use with sensitive data, this is not ideal.
Claude Team and Enterprise
Your data is NOT used for model training. Full stop. This is contractually guaranteed. Data is stored with enterprise-grade security, and admin controls give you visibility and management capabilities.
Claude API
Data sent via API is NOT used for training by default. Data is retained for 30 days for safety monitoring, then deleted. A DPA (Data Processing Agreement) is available for GDPR compliance.
