A data lake is a centralized repository that stores raw data in any format (structured, semi-structured, unstructured) at low cost. Unlike a data warehouse, it does not require a predefined schema. For SMEs producing data from many sources (IoT, CRM, ERP, web), a data lake allows storing everything and analyzing it when needed.

A typical AI POC lasts 2-4 weeks, uses a subset of real data, and produces concrete metrics. It is the safest way for SMEs to validate AI before committing significant budget.

Scalability

Scalability is the ability of a system or process to handle increasing volumes without degrading performance or requiring proportionally increasing costs. A scalable AI system can go from 100 to 10,000 documents processed per day without redesign. Scalability is one of AI's main promises: once built, the marginal cost per unit decreases.
